There
is an election coming up relating to the use of a ¼ cent Sales Tax for
Economic Development, November 6, 2007
submitted by Pat Hallisey
I have been asked by friends my position on this issue and why.
I support the effort and encourage you to do the same.
For years, we have talked about working to diversify the economy of League
City and begin to take the tax burden off the backs of homeowners and
families.
The use of the Sales tax will enable us to compete in a very competitive
market to attract businesses that will contribute significantly to the local
economy and reduction of your property taxes.
There is no doubt this will be an investment in League Cities future.
This is a great community with an outstanding future. We are now the biggest
City in Galveston County and the area. It is time for League City to step up
to its role of leadership.
We are losing too much business opportunities to other communities because
they are better able to compete and provide the necessary incentives.
Please check on this important issue to League City’s future. Vote Early or
on Election Day!
