Right Now - Home Grown Cantaloupes – League City

You wanna taste the best melons this side of the Pecos? Cantaloupes that is…and they’re grown right here, in the Bay Area, in League City, along Hwy 3 between 518 and 96. That’s right! You can’t miss the rich white sandy soil that sits on the west side of Hwy 3 and the aroma of cantaloupes. But you will miss the cantaloupe sign (if the sign is down-they’re out) if you don’t get there early. This morning they didn’t even get a chance to get the sign up before they sold out. 50 or so melons were gone in about 10 minutes. more...

August 7 – Politically Incorrect Dinner – League City

This is probably the one opportunity you might have to pay a politician to be quiet, or to dance, sing or even roller skate around a dining room. All done to raise money for scholarships and in the spirit of having a great time, politicians from around the area will be teased, taunted and harassed into doing silly things. Listen in as Mary Proudy, the event organizer tells Talk of the Bay all about this hysterical event.
September 6 & 7 – Redfish Raftup – Clear Lake

One of the largest, in the water, boating events in our area is the Redfish Raftup. If it isn’t the largest, it certainly is the most fun! Each Labor Day Weekend, the Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) presents this extremely popular concert on the water, featuring one of our favorite bands, Kelly McGuire. Approximately 150– 200 boaters gather up around Starfleet’s Star Gazer for this fun Labor Day celebration. This year the Kelly McGuire Band will be out on the water from 12:30 – 2pm both Sunday, September 6 and Monday, September 7. American flags of all, blowing in the breeze, decorated more than a dozen boats as the American Spirit Boat Parade got underway. June 25 - Salute To Heroes V – League City

Representative Larry Taylor opened up the evening as hundreds of people shopped the silent auction, anticipated the fun of the live auction, purchased raffle tickets and enjoyed all the great food. All of this was to honor our military and for one family, their son Ray Joseph Hutchinson. Ray Joseph was killed in action while serving the 101st Airborne in Mosul, Iraq on December 7, 2003. Listen in to Talk of the Bay as Deborah and Michael Hutchinson express some of their thoughts.
