Alderman has announced her retirement

Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Claudette Alderman has
announced her retirement effective February 29, 2008 after thirty-seven
years of service.
Claudette Alderman started her career at the Chamber in 1971 as the
secretary. As the Chamber began to grow she was promoted to Membership
Director. Later she was instrumental in the development of the Clear Lake
Area Magazine and became the Account Executive. In 1986, Claudette was
appointed as the President & CEO and successfully held that position for
twenty-two years.
During her career, Claudette Alderman assisted in the development of the now
independent organizations of Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, Bay Area
Houston Transportation Partnership, Bay Area Houston Convention & Visitors
Bureau, The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake, Crime Stoppers and the
United Way Agencies in the Clear Lake area.
Claudette Alderman was raised in an Air Force family living in many states
and three different countries throughout her childhood finally becoming a
resident of the Clear Lake area in 1968.
Claudette Alderman has been selected as a Space Center Rotary Vocational
Excellence Award nominee and has received commendations from the Texas
Senate and Harris County Commissioners. She was also featured as an
“Outstanding Young Woman of America” highlighted in Women’s Enterprise of
Texas Magazine and has received numerous distinguished service awards.
The Board of Directors have appointed Cindy Harreld as the interim President
& CEO. We are very fortunate to have such a talented replacement capable of
stepping into the position immediately. The Board feels confident that Cindy
Harreld will serve the community and the Chamber with the same dedication
she has demonstrated for the past twenty-five years.
Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Vice Chair of Administration Cathy
Turner with the Houston Chronicle has been appointed to chair the seven
member Personnel Committee to research candidates for the position of
President & CEO. Submit candidate suggestions or resumes to Cathy Turner at
