Wheels & Baseball for M.I. Lewis Social
Services Event
submitted by NGCCC
On Saturday, July 12, 2008, beginning at 2:00 p.m., the M.I. Lewis Social
Service Center will hold its first “Wheels & Baseball for M.I. Lewis Social
Services” event at Robinson Stadium located in Texas City, Texas. This
afternoon event provides a fun-filled atmosphere and an opportunity to help
raise the funds desperately needed to help low income families in crisis.
There will be a car show, bike show, ice cream eating contest, 50/50 cash
drawing, silent auction. There are also several children’s events including
a “Bounce House.” Come out and enjoy the fun.
Since its inception in the 1960s, the mission of the M.I. Lewis Social
Service Center has been to render aid to individuals with emergency needs,
to make referrals to other agencies for additional support and to encourage
its clients toward self-sufficiency. Through our emergency assistance
program, we are able to provide support to the increasing number of low
income families needing immediate support in the Dickinson and Clear Creek
Independent School District-Galveston County. The agency also assists
transients and the homeless. In 2007, we served over 4,000 families, which
consisted of at least 11,751 individuals.
M.I. Lewis Social Service Center would greatly appreciate a donation for our
silent auction or/and door prize. Additionally, your donation is tax
deductible to the extent allowed by law. Thank you for your consideration of
this request. If you have any questions, please contact me at the office
