League City’s Economic Development
Corporation Receives Excellence Award
by Kristi Wyatt
The Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC) has named the League City
Economic Development Corporation as a recipient of its 2007 Economic
Excellence Award. The award recognizes Texas economic development agencies
that meet a certain level of performance and professionalism.
League City’s Economic Development Corporation was one of only two similar
organizations throughout the Houston metro area to receive the excellence
award. It was the only agency representing the thirteen Bay Area Houston
Economic Partnership member cities to be awarded.
Commenting on the award, Bob Mitchell, President of the Bay Area Houston
Economic Partnership, said, “In all of Texas, TEDC presented this
prestigious award to only 22 agencies. The fact that the League City
Economic Development Corporation was selected to be among its fires
recipients says a great deal about its professionalism and effectiveness.”
According to Tom Linklater, President of the League City Economic
Development Corporation, the award represents a great deal of teamwork
between League City’s leadership. “Our corporation board and staff have
worked hard to create new business investment in League City. This would not
be possible without the close cooperation and support of the Mayor and City
Council,” he said.
Criteria used in evaluating economic development agencies included the
effectiveness in carrying out the organization’s strategic plan,
relationships with agency partners and professional levels achieved by
agency staff.
