Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams Dinner
Cruise Fundraiser April 27, 2008
submitted by Robin Stowe
“Champagne Wishes and Caviar Dreams” is a charity dinner cruise benefitting
the Jeanette Williams Foundation for Children’s Cancer Research. The
fundraiser, to be held Sunday, April 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., consists of a
silent auction, dinner, and dancing on a beautiful three hour cruise aboard
the brand new 117 ft. custom built yacht at FantaSea Yacht Charters in South
Shore Harbour Resort. Reservations are $75 and can be purchased online at
the foundation’s website at
www.child-cancer-research.org .
The Jeanette Williams Foundation was founded by Dianne Troop, who lost nine
of her immediate family members to cancer, including both of her parents and
all four of her grandparents. A large portion of Troop’s adolescence was
spent at the hospital with family members, and the nurses would have her
visit the children’s ward where she would play with children her own age.
Early on she recognized the plight of young children facing long infirmary
confinements and realized that many of these children would never have a
life outside the hospital walls. When Troop reflected on her experience she
realized it was the pivotal point that determined her mission in life; to do
all she could to make these children’s lives better. During the last five
years she has worked for and with children, experiencing many wonderful
success stories.
The goal and purpose of the Jeanette Williams Foundation is to raise funds
for children’s cancer research. A portion of the proceeds from this event
will provide much-needed support for research conducted at U.T.M.B in
Galveston.
For more information, please call Dianne Troop at (512) 657-1038.
