Bay Area Toros Announce 2008 Schedule Professional Baseball team set to play in Texas City beginning May 23 at 6:00 Season Tickets on sale now, Single Game tickets go on sale March 29 at 10:00 a.m.

The Bay Area Toros Professional Baseball Club released its 2008 schedule today. The team, playing its second season in the Continental Baseball League, will play a 72 game schedule in Texas City, Texas. After starting in League City in 2007, the Toros moved in late July of 2007 to Texas City’s Robinson Stadium and will play all of its home games this season at the historic venue.
“We are so excited to be playing in Texas City. The city and administration have been great to work with and we look forward to being a productive member of the community this summer,” said Mike Pede, the Toros GM and COO. “Mayor Matt Doyle and his staff have been great and Tim Finn, AD of TCISD and everyone around the baseball program have been very welcoming and we look forward to working with them.”

The Toros open the season on the road, May 23 at the new Corpus Christi BeachDawgs for a two game series and then play an eight game homestand beginning Memorial Day Weekend. The Toros will play 36 home games, six games a week during the 12 week season. The 2008 All Star Game will be hosted by the McKinney Blue Thunder. The other team in the CBL for 2008 is the Texarkana Gunslingers, playing their first season with the league. “We have a great schedule that has us starting with a great homestand and a series leading up to the Fourth of July, and we are going to put together a great promotional schedule so there will be something for everyone at our home games,” added Pede.

The team announced that season tickets are now available on line with a new ticketing system from Click and Print Tickets, and that single game tickets for all home games will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008. “We expect big crowds the first 10 games, so fans need to get those tickets early to be part of the excitement,” Pede added.

The 2008 Bay Area Toros Full Season Schedule is below.

The Toros will hold training camp in Texas City at Robinson Stadium beginning May 1, 2008. The teams second season in the CBL begins at home on May 23 against the Corpus Christi BeachDawgs at 6:00 p.m. The team will be continuously announcing signings over the next few weeks until the 25 man roster is complete for second year Manager Jim Bolt.
