Car enthusiasts will be treated to a wheel of a deal at the Classic
Promotions Galveston Island Cruise as anything with wheels lines up at Moody
Gardens May 8-11. Creating a scene reminiscent of decades gone by, to raise
funds for D’Feet Breast Cancer, car lovers have the chance to see vintage
and muscle cars, as well as low-riders and classics.
“Everyone enjoys this type of show because it has everything you can
imagine. It gives every visitor a chance to go back in time and enjoy when
they were a kid again and gas didn’t cost so much,” said organizer Ben
Cline.
Beat the Heat Inc; a “cops and kids” orientated program will educate
attendees on safe street car racing. Program leader Tommy Hansen says the
Hot Rod cars on display and seeing them race are the catalyst to getting the
attention of the youth today. Beat the Heat will be at the car show
throughout the weekend promoting better understanding about drag racing
between the police and communities. The organization wants to encourage
racers to not race in the street and inform them about safe racing.
Registration kicks off at 9 a.m. on May 8 and continues through the weekend.

treasure hunt. A newly restored 1963 Mercury Meteor will be raffled off

other proceeds from the event will benefit D’Feet Breast Cancer, a
non-profit organization to help uninsured and underserved Galveston County
