Mercury Baroque Ensemble performs
Mercury Baroque Ensemble fills University of Houston-Clear Lake’s Bayou
Theater with the magical sounds of composer Henry Purcell’s opera, “Dido and
Aeneas,” Sunday, May 18, 2 p.m.
Based on the fourth book of Virgil’s Aenied about the legendary Queen of
Carthage Dido and her love interest, the Trojan refugee Aeneas, the opera
was first performed in the late 17th century. Mercury Baroque adapted this
program to the group’s baroque performing style.
General admission tickets are available ahead of time for $10 or at the door
for $12. Discounts are available for those holding a UH-Clear Lake I.D. For
more information, call the Office of Student Life, 281-283-2560, or visit
